Cal Ripken E-Mail

I have a perfect attendance record in elementary/middle/high school. I'll write an entry about that later. This entry is about an e-mail I sent to Cal Ripken Jr. (my inspiration for the streak) and his reply. Ok, well, kinda. It's impossible to find Cal's e-mail address on the internet, because putting it there would be stupid. Sooooo, I had to work may up to him. I e-mailed one of the co-owners of a corporation (the other co-owner happens to be Cal) and had him forward an e-mail to Cal. Essentially, I asked if Cal could write a college recommendation for me. Bear in mind, it's impossible to get responses to these things, all you end up with are pre-fabbed stock e-mails, but I didn't get one of those! Here's a copy/paste of what I got:

Jeff Eiseman recently received your email and passed it along to me. I shared it with Cal and he wanted me to thank you for the kind words and congratulate you on your impressive run in school...far more impressive than any attendance run Cal had at school!

As for the letter of recommendation we will have to respectfully decline. Letters such as that are not something that we or Cal take lightly and due to the fact that we don't personally know you we would be uncomfortable submitting such a letter.

I truly hope you understand our position and on behalf of Mr. Ripken I wish you all the best with your pending collegiate career.

Happy Holidays!

Cal knows I exist! He is impressed with me! YAY! Ok, that's my happy of the day! Ciao!

MIT's Application

Yep, I was right, MIT's application is now online. Here's the mystery though. . . . McGann said that the downloadable paper application would be online before the online application. It's backwards, the online one is on first. Don't know why, don't really care, just a curiosity. Yeah, so. . . .I'll be applying now, ciao!

OMG! Could it be? Could it??? Huh huh huh?!?!?!? (note the use of the triple interabang). MIT's website is being worked on until 5 pm Eastern (2 pm Pacific). My deduction? THEY'RE UPLOADING THE APPLICATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is my solemn quest to be the first one to download it! I'll wait here with baited breath, refreshing my screen more and more as 2 pm approaches, probably in a normal distribution, but that would mean that an hour after 2 I would hardly check at all any more. . . . how about a backwards Chi-squared distribution, that's more fitting! Check more and more and more and more! (I'm excited). Ok, that's all, click the pic, you'll see!

Boooooo diversity. . . .Hooooooray Beer, erm, I mean, pie chart!

If you haven't seen the commercials, don't freak out about the title. You'll get it once you see the commercial. I found this nifty little pie chart and data table online that describes diversity in my high school. We suck at diversity. We are the epitomy of the rich white school. Here you go:

DO IT!!!!!

A1 Steak Sauce and The Rock

So, there's an A1 steak sauce commercial where a bit of steak sauce falls onto the grill of the bbq. The guy, being stupid, licks it off. . .cue ambulance. Fairly stupid commercial, but the cool part is the music in the background. It's the beginning to "The Chase" from "The Rock" soundtrack. Yep, I've listened to that soundtrack a lot because the movie is THAT good! I'm not sure if they were hoping nobody would notice or if they got permission, but either way I CAUGHT YOU! good music choice though!

My Senior Pictures

Yay! I just had my senior pictures taken and I want to share them with you! They were exciting enough to break the blog hiatus. Keep in mind, technically these pictures are copyrighted and shouldn't appear here, but sshhhhhh, nobody has to know. Just please don't save them or reproduce them and we should be ok. For the originals or to order some, go to haugensgalleri.com. Enjoy me!
